I don't want to jinx anything, but the writing is going moderately well. I have a short story that I think I will make it to the end of, and another couple brewing for later. I am a slow and indolent writer, and only managing to produce ~1000 words a day, but who cares, I have no NaNoWriMo-style end-of-month target, and at least this is ( Read more... )

I know, I know, but in my medium-long experience of these things, if you give intelligent, indecisive people more options than a brute binary, you just end up with a lot of votes for "it depends".

Even though I clicked "no problem" for the intergenerational questions (certainly intergenerational friendships are struck up all the time) I *also* could see how in Juno the relationship read to the guy as flirtation, and to Juno as fatherly interest. I think that kind of wire-crossing also happens pretty frequently.

You should make a writing filter, but you should put me on it!

...not that I'd expect your writing to be anything other than first rate. I just know I wouldn't have time to read it.

It's not "they deserve it", it's "it'll stop them from doing it again".

If they were killing various of my friends for going around murdering their family for no reason, then I wouldn't kill said mass-murdering psychopath because that's fair enough and further would imply that they're not going to kill me or those of my friends who aren't themselves mass-murdering psychopaths.

Your binary would make me as bad as they are, and by the same criteria someone else would be justified in killing me for killing a number of mass-murdering psychopaths.

In other comments, that Silver Surfer fanfic is written dreadfully, but would make a pretty good computer game plot.

1000 words a day sounds pretty good to me! Glad to hear it's going along nicely, and hope the rate doesn't drop off catastrophically now that you have mentioned it on LJ. :-)
