Fic: The Art of Medicine, Jack/Ianto, all ages

Dec 09, 2012 12:00

So here it is, a curtain-y, Christmas-y fic with Mac, my original character from the Time Enough series. This was written for my cotton candy bingo card, though why I started with "without makeup" is something only the voices in my head really know. Mind the label - it is just short of frothy ( Read more... )

This is really sweet. I love Mac and the way she mother-hens everyone, especially Jack.

She also knew that as long as the fate of the planet wasn't at stake, they'd do whatever Ianto wanted and Jack would think he'd made the decision.

Love that line!

Hee, thank you! I always want to think that Jack and Ianto evolved into something beyond what they'd ever imagined and ended up having a true partnership. And of course Mac ships them so hard, she'll make sure they stay in line!

I'm glad you liked the story and thank you so much for reading it!

All Torchwood stories from you are a joy, but these ones with Mac are especially charming.

Aw, you're a sweetheart, thank you! And thank you so much for reading another Mac story, I really appreciate that you've taken her to heart, too.

Totally, totally lovely. It's like we are getting extra seeing Jack and Ianto from Mac's point of view :)
Wouldn't you just love to have those two guys standing chatting like that in your living room while you sat back and watched!

Thank you and more please x

Sorry about delayed reply on other thread - bad cold/Christmas/then forgot are my excuses!

Oh, I hope you're feeling better! Having a cold during the holidays is so unfair.

You know, I can't imagine Jack and Ianto chatting in my living room because I'd be a puddle ;).

Thank you so much for reading and I'm so happy you liked it!

It's always a joy to revisit this 'verse - and I think I still haven't read all of it, I'm so behind with my reading.

While I feel sorry for Mac, she's always fun, even while suffering the cold from hell. Ianto (with a bit of hinderance from Jack) will make sure she has everything she needs to get better. He's so good at looking after everyone. I just hope Jack didn't break anything important.

I'm so glad you're working your way through it - I hadn't really realized how large this world had become - and wouldn't have, had we not had CoE. I certainly love having Mac being a surrogate (self-insert, I guess) just because I love finding new aspects of Jack and Ianto as they've grown as a couple.

Anyway, thanks for reading this and letting me know you liked it!

Aaw I love Mac. She's a great OC. Jack is right, colds need a decent whisky to cure them. A nice drop of Dalwhinnie with hot water and a bit of lemon and ginger and a few cloves, that will sort it.

I would love to see more in this series.

Thanks Veronica, this cheered me up!!

Thank you, my friend! And I like the way you think ;) - although I have to say, why wait for a cold...

Anyway, you know it's all about Jack and Ianto for me, and I wanted this story to show how life has moved on for them, how they've become an extended family. It may not make great science fiction (if Torchwood ever did!) but they are dear to me and want them all to have adventures together.

In the meantime, back to TP! Thanks again for reading! And have a great holiday :).

Hah, those hot toddys are delicious yes. If you get a proper pub they'll make them for you. I could so easily drink one every night, but try my best to limit it to a cold remedy.

Anyhow you have a lovely holiday as well.

I think you write great sci fi, or fantasy in the case of TP. Your stories are very plotty, they certainly aren't curtain fic. This one is a slice of life, yes, but it's within a bigger verse.
