Fic: Don't Look Down, It's Only Love, Hawaii Five-O, Danny/Steve

That final scene in Kahu didn't sit well with me, and many of you, I suspect. So I took Remember/Reminisce from my cotton candy bingo card and fixed it.

~9,900 words, rated for everyone except for a few bad words.

Gorgeous! I loved every word of it. It was a long road for them to get together but I think it made them stronger. I'd love to see one from Danny's point of view but if you don't I'm totally satisfied with this.

Thank you! And I love that idea, I hadn't thought of it. Seeing the chain of events from Danny's POV would be fun - gosh darn it, I don't need any more plot bunnies!

Well, okay, one more won't hurt...;)

Beautiful fic. It made me hate Rachel a little more than I already do (but that happens regularly)... Loved how Steve made things evident, once he took the decision to be sincere and tell Danny about his love for him. There were heartbreaking moments, with Danny and Grace far from each other for months, and when Steve announced to Chin he was going away and Chin and Five-O was going to be split. It was sad, and I was so relieved when Rachel phoned! (and loved Steve's reaction, thinking about the two governors and all the organisation that was going to be for nothing...)
Great story, great happy ending, and thanks a lot for sharing!

Thank you! I always believe in a happy ending, even when I'm not contractually obligated to the cotton candy bingo! I'm so glad you enjoyed the journey I took them on - I had actually planned on writing just a few paragraphs for each month, but as usual, the story got away from me.

Thanks for reading and letting me know that you liked it!

Will defintiely check this out as a) it's you, and b) I do occasionally dip my toes in happy making H5O fic. "The final scene in Kahu"?? Do tell, I don't really watch anymore, but I'm still curious to hear about what goes on in this maddeningly uneven show.

Oh, ain't that the truth. This season has been schizophrenic, swinging between Danny and Steve (cuddling on the couch, watching a movie! Steve in tears after Danny is saved from a bomb!) to a romcom starring Steve and Cath. This particular scene came at the end of the ep, and Steve comes walking up in a (strangely ill fitting) tux and carrying Cath away from the table at Kamekona's with everyone applauding. I think the showrunner is playing it both ways, trying to appease fans of both persuasions :).

Hope all is well with you and that you are recovered from your trip to see your family. My brother and his Labrador visited for Christmas and they were both sick the entire time, which was...dismaying.

Always lovely seeing you here, of course!

I adored the way you had Steve turn up in Nevada. And then the whole thing from then on was just wonderful (although I do wonder what Task Force Nevada might get up to - I was nearly sorry that didn't come about.)
Lovely romantic schmoopy fic.
Thank you.

I can just imagine Steve and Danny trying to teach a course to a similar state task force - Steve saying one thing, Danny contradicting him, and no one understanding a thing :).

Anyway, thanks for reading the story and letting me know that you liked it! Romantic and schmoopy was exactly what I was going for!

take care - V

This was beautifully romantic!

I love that Steve was so willing to leave Hawaii because all he needs to be happy is to have Danny and Grace with him.

Truly lovely work on this :)

You know, I've wanted to write that angle for years (and have written, in unposted stories), where Danny has to move away and Steve vows to go with him, no questions asked. It just kind of dribbled out in this story, though - this was supposed to be a short, quick series of sketches (like that worked out so well!)

So thank you for catching that and liking what I did with it - it certainly is canon in my head ;).
