Insulting.

Did you hear about that guy on the football team? Yeah, him. That guy is so hetero. I'll bet he gives it to the pussy every night. He and that one girl on the cheerleading squad, I hear they have been really close lately. Isn't that disgusting? I bet he goes down on her or maybe she goes down on him. Or worse, maybe he fingers her. You know ( Read more... )

it's guy-love, to the pale steed!

I honestly don't like to play the "I am an oppressed minority WAAAH" card a lot, but this is one of my pet peeves, and I guess I have just seen it happening more than usual lately.

And hello, I'm Jake. I think I have seen you in Feminist Dialogue.

you probably have. and it's one of my pet peeves as well- the way people use language that maybe they think is even just ironic, but really? it's not going to come across as ironic to everyone. anyway, jake! i'm mary.

It's nice to meet(?) you Mary. I agree. Sometimes there are situations and jokes that can warrant it, but these situations and jokes are generally only open to A) the minority in question or B) obvious sympathizers. The entire thing is complicated (as is our society on a whole).

I'm a guy who loves cars. I'm also bisexual. I don't wave any flags around, but I don't hide it, either. Call me a pansy, someone, I dare you.

We are who we are. I didn't have any more choice in this than I did in the color of my skin or hair or eyes, or in my height, or any of dozens of other things. People forget this, they think there's something disgusting about love that doesn't take the form they find acceptable. And you know what? They can go fuck themselves. This is a world where joy is precious. If someone doesn't like the way I find that joy, that's their problem.

And yes, it's a PROBLEM, people. Don't go pointing fingers secure in your own majority. Shut up and think once in a while.

I have one request Nate - if someone calls you a pansy, I want the popcorn concession for the response.

Jake, thank you for posting this. Sincerely.

I think sometimes that we on the non-straight side of things can be too ameliorative in demanding respect that we deserve just as any other human being does. I know I can be, sometimes. However, I will not, ever, apologize for who I am. I had a recent event of singular unpleasantness that reminded me of just how stupid and cruel people can be, even the ones who seem like they might not be, and it made me realize that this is the opinion of the majority, that there is something inherently wrong in their eyes, somehow, about loving within your own gender, let alone the idea of gender identity that doesn't match biology.

It incenses me to think people are so willing to believe such utter bollocks, and are willing to treat other human beings as 'sick' or 'wrong' because of it. My bedroom is nobody's damned business but mine, and if I choose to walk openly with a woman holding hands, or kiss her in public, that is no different than if I did this with a man.

My favorite are those who blame homosexuality for the downfall of Rome. As any good historian knows, Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity and banned homosexual practices in Rome at around 342 AD. Somehow, Rome still managed to fall.

As a Christian and a gay man, it's very ironic.

Hello, my name is Wilmot, and I fuck men. I get fucked by men. I fuck women, too, and (once, at least) get fucked by them. I like it every which way I can get it, as often as possible, with as many people as possible, because I like people. I don't like women. I don't like men. I like people.

Anyone who thinks there's something wrong with that can suck me. :) They'll probably enjoy it.

I like what you have to say up there, man, as much as I hate that it has to be said.

But the question is: Do you have any 'problems' with those who wish to not engage in such activities until they are married, and then they will only do so with the partner they have married? See, there is room for bigotry in all cases and situations. Being able to overlook such a thing and build a friendship with someone who has such a polar opposite view is an important quality in a person!
