Wherein I discuss voting NO on Prop 8

As you all know, Proposition 8 is a proposed amendment to the CA constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman to eliminate same-sex couples' right to marry. Currently, the vote is too close to call and on election day, this important issue will be decided by literally a handful of votes or so. Therefore it is vitally important ( Read more... )

There's so many ugly thing about 8, I could never list them all, but one of the things I've found that reaches people is asking if they would support a ban on interracial marriage and pointing out that the discrimination of 8 is just as heinous.

I totally agree. And, if we're using a definition of marriage based on the sacrament of a few outspoken faiths with deep pockets, why don't we include language that bans marriages that would take place in synagogues, mosques or temples too and confine marriages to a man and woman of the same race and a common western faith? Nobody would go that far obviously, but they don't seem afraid of the first step.

I really wish that I was still a California voter. I'll bug my ex-boyfriend to get to the polls. If he's not registered, I'll kill him.
