Thanks! It actually just kind of developed as I started writing as opposed to me planning it, haha.

Yay! I was hoping someone would write a story about Annie's 21st birthday since I too assumed it was last Thursday. This was wonderful! It started out kind of sad, but I really liked the way you ended it. Annie's been doing a lot of growing up, and I think you really captured the (sometimes scary) transition from childhood to adulthood. I can definitely relate to the feeling of not being sure what you're doing, but just kind of making it up as you go along. Really well done!

Thank you! I feel like a big part of Annie's growing up is actually accepting that she doesn't always have to be sure exactly what she's doing. Like, if you try to plan and control everything, you end up plowing through a glass door, but if you maybe just let things happen a little bit, you might get to make out with a tall yummy ex-lawyer. You know, universal truths for everyone.

You're totally right! The two times that Annie has kissed Jeff (at least in the prime timeline) have been completely spontaneous and unplanned. When she tries to force the issue, she ends up disappointed (Anthropology 101 and Paradigms of Human Memory).
Looking forward to more updates from you (of any story)! :)

P.S. How strange is it that we now have to specify which timeline we're discussing? Our show is so weird, but I love it!

Annie fic! I'm thrilled you chose to write about her 21st birthday. It would have to feel like such a milestone to her. She's still the youngest but being 21 really does feel so much older than 20 and I can imagine Annie ascribing a great deal of significance to it.

I loved that Troy and Abed took Annie to a bar at midnight. My 21st birthday fell on a Sunday, so that's exactly what my friends did for me. I adore their friendship, and as much as I love group hijinks, I appreciate seeing them split up a bit. Especially these three. I really enjoy their dynamic, there's a sweetness to it that you don't always see with the others.

I loved the detail of the glass of milk, the contrast of that choice with the wine she now drinks was an interesting way to illustrate how Annie's growing and changing. And Annie would so read Gone With The WindMy favorite, though, has to be when she dresses up and goes to that hotel bar. I love Annie's fearlessness and this is something I could actually see her doing after turning 21. And Jeff ( ... )

I'm gonna be totally honest, a million little details from this fic were ripped from my own life...and to be more honest, I do that a lot. Like, clearly I'm not just writing Annie into my own life, because I'm actually not very much like her (though sometimes I try to emulate her because there are a lot of good things about her that I know are difficult for me so I consider her one f my spirit animals), but I am around her age and there are certain discoveries and experiences that definitely apply.

Considering all my studies of Annie as a character, an Annie-POV piece was a long time coming, and I'm so glad it rang true for you, fanfic buddy!
