I just finished Escaflowne...

..and I BAW'ed at the ending. OMFG...I hate crying and damnit, I did. The ending was so bittersweet. OMFG...

It was good though, I'd recommend this show to just about anyone. But, man...I'd talk more about the spoilerish stuff, but I'm tired and I gotta work tomorrow.

Escaflowne was the first anime I ever saw. It's amazing. And I second Lihn, SEE THE MOVIE.

Ahh, I remember Escaflowne. I remember hating it because the characters were bland and every single mother fucker had some sob story fucking flashback before it was all done. Oh, and the fact that they were even able to make the fact that the main bad guy was Sir Isaac Newton seem self-important and boring.

BUT, in recent times, as my sense of humor has matured and become inherently superior to what it once was, I have felt an increasing need to rewatch this show. Really, I sat and thought about it. How can I possibly hate a show where one of the main villains inexplicably goes from Kefka to some wolf furry that gets yiffed five times a night who's, like, one of the heroes' sisters or something? I have a feeling my feelings may change as the lulz comes pouring through.

I can totally understand why some people wouldn't like this show. Hitomi is a complete Mary Sue (But, I'll defend her in saying she's probably the most likable Mary Sue I've encountered thus far), and the plot isn't exactly revolutionary. But, I'm a sucker for anything shoujo, despite the furries xD;. And, the mech battles were awesome, and Yoko Kanno makes another excellent soundtrack (probably one of my favorites). And, there's just something about this show that I can't help but like despite it's flaws. And, Allen can still have my babies <3

That IS one thing I legitimately liked about the series. Allen tried that bishonen shit with everyone and, in the end, got absolutely no ass. Not that it much matters because EVERYONE was fucking pretty in that show...except Hitomi, the world's most plain Japanese schoolgirl.
