I'm actually surprised there are that many accounting firms and stuff there. I don't often hear people being too excited about their jobs at accounting firms. To be fair, those companies tend to beat up on new employees, so my sample is probably biased.

As for Timberland, they're very into social and environmental programs outside of just making shoes. Their CEO was on the colbert report a while ago, video here, so I'd imagine that's a big part of their corporate culture.

I think Forbes looks more at the perks that one receives working for the company than overall job satisfaction. If you click on any of the companies it only mentions what you get from them like health care, bonuses, annual free yacht, etc.

yea, most of those ratings go by things like various benefit options (type/quality of health care, vacation/sick days, etc) and sometimes starting salary ranges and office atmosphere. being the newb in an environment can always be tough. rookie do this rookie do that. =p

found it interesting that my company isn't on that list haha. they're pretty damn good with things like vacation time and such but i guess the health care doesn't rate or something.

That's awesome! I'll let my friends who are becoming nurses and doctors know about that . . . maybe we'll all just move from Long Island out to the Lehigh Valley area. I thought the "most diverse" category was funny. Apparently the most diverse is Baptist Health in South Florida, with 71% minorities. I tend to think that at a point, the more 'minorities', the less diverse. You're just getting people who are the same--thus being less "diverse". But, that's my gripe with the term diversity and how other people (mis)use it.

Yea depending on the underlying statistics one of the minorities might now be the majority and hence that company may not be very diverse. More than likely, since it is south florida, it is the Hispanic population which is growing by leaps and bounds.
