A Scary Learning Experience.

Today I had the most scariest traveling experience of my life! I was wondering if other vi and blind people have had the same thing happen to them. I hate how people force themselves to try and help someone with a disablility even if they don't need it or the person can be too aggressive and forceful or even careless in the way they are helping ( Read more... )

That's a really frightening experience. I would have been SO scared! Especially running across and street when its not safe and grabbing me! How scary! At least if he started hurting you or something you could scream and a car was bound to stop since they were at lest honking at his insane behavior running a VI person across a street when it's not time to cross yet. Some people want to help but don't know exactly how and others help too much and others are just nutsos...! Take care.

The two embarasing experiences I had on transit: Both happened at the same time, one being scary. The first one was my ex boyfriend (he's blind I'm vi) had the nerve to tell me how much cash he had in his wallet (a big no-no someone could rob you.) and sure enough this lead to experience #2, we were almost robbed because of his big mouth. This leading to the guy opening his jacket and pulling out what appeared to be a handle to either a gun or a knife. Yeah I didn't feel like being a statistic in Baltimore on my first date. After that we never went out by ourselves, we were with a group of people. Or we ordered food at the rehab's dorm.

You should have like called the cops. That is just not okay. even if he meant well he should have been told off. That's just not appropriate. You poor thing. Huggles.

That is just terrible.
I've had people grab me, but I'm kind of assertive and it never goes very far.
I hope you can use this anger to your advantage the next time some idiot tries to mess with you.
Once you stand up for yourself you will feel such a sense of empowerment.
