Heechul squeezed and placed the white cloth on the younger’s head, his hand brushing away the fringe at the same time. He frowned as he tried to use another cloth to clean Kyuhyun’s face. He did not know if Kyuhyun was flinching away from the coldness of the cloth or whether there was something deeper in his actions. Heechul did not like how his intuition was leaning more towards the latter. The furrowed eyebrows eased slightly as he watched the tenseness give way to a small contented sigh as Kyuhyun leaned unconsciously towards Heechul’s hands. Not stopping in his administrations, Heechul asked as he turned to face the door.

“Did you call Leeteuk?”

Hankyung nodded, gently closing the door behind him.

He had been in the living room, talking to Yesung and Kangin as well as calling Leeteuk. It did not come as much of a shock to Hankyung when Heechul had taken the first watch on the young boy, though he did wonder briefly what had enamoured Heechul to Kyuhyun. At his next thought, he chuckled lightly, earning himself strange looks from Yesung and Kangin. Maybe he’s the one being influenced by Leeteuk.

Yesung glanced at Hankyung before turning to Kangin.

“That’s another one we’ve lost to the world of Heechul.”

His only response was a shake of the head from Kangin.

Hankyung, not having heard Yesung’s words, took out his phone and dialled. He had already phoned his mother, informing her that he would be at Heechul’s for the night, asking her to tell his brother about it. He had postponed calling Leeteuk, for he knew what the self-proclaimed Umma would be like, especially since there were two Ummas in the same dorm.

“Hello?”

“Hankyung?”

Hankyung could hear the surprise in Leeteuk’s voice for he seldom called the elder. Heechul was the one who called Leeteuk more.

“Is there something wrong?”

Hankyung sighed before speaking. He did not go into the details, just stated that Kyuhyun fell ill and was now at Heechul’s place. As he expected, Leeteuk started panicking, which was not helped by the worried voice he could hear in the background which he concluded was Jaejoong’s. He passed the phone to Kangin, knowing that only Kangin’s voice could cut into the mother-hen mode Leeteuk was in with a glare thrown his way by Kangin. The glare soon softened as Kangin started talking to Leeteuk, assuring his boyfriend that everything was fine.

Yesung and Hankyung stood up, both leaving Kangin alone.

Yesung poke his head in to check on Kyuhyun before retreating back to his room, knowing that Hankyung and Heechul would take care of the sick boy. He would stay if he did not have an early start in the morning. Hankyung settled himself on the edge of the bed, taking in the flushed look on Kyuhyun’s face. The fever was still raging through the younger’s body.

“I told my mum I’ll be spending the night here as well.”

Hankyung looked at the window, hearing the rain hitting heavily against the glass. He leaned forward; pulling the cover higher up and making sure that Kyuhyun was tucked in properly. Staring at the boy, Hankyung spoke.

“What happened?”

Heechul turned to face his lover, worry and anger both visible in his eyes. He explained to the best he could of the events that had occurred, but even he did not have the full picture. The only one that did was sleeping fitfully on the bed. Heechul was careful to keep his tone low though the anger at the two girls seeped through. Kyuhyun whimpered, as if hearing Heechul’s words, curling away from the voice. Heechul fell silent, not wanting to disturb the younger. Hankyung placed his hand over Heechul’s, which was clasped round Kyuhyun’s. He squeezed Heechul’s hand softly as the pair leaned against each other. Neither knew why they were so concerned about someone they just met, Heechul especially for he was indifferent to anyone not within his circle.

Maybe they were all getting influenced by Leeteuk.

Sungmin stares at the white ceiling above him, sprawled out on his bed. Listening to the rain splattering outside, he could not stop the tremors that ran through his body. Even though it has been three years since the incident, on some days, it all hit him at once, especially on days like this - alone in the dark, the rain pounding on the windows. Sungmin refused to curl into a ball, refused to give in to the urge. Instead, he clenched his fists tightly around the blanket, determined to stare at the ceiling for shutting his eyes allowed the scenes to be played like a movie in his head.

He hated nights like this. They made him feel weak and useless, making him crave for a hiding spot in a corner or disappear completely. But they also made him want to cry, be wrapped in someone’s safe embrace, and to be who he was before - before all these happened.

Yet he could not. He could not for he was the young master of the house.

As Sungmin struggled to sleep with flashes of the past going through his mind, he forgot the words he had said to Zhou Mi that day - that within the walls of his rooms, they were simply friends who would be there for each other.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day in school saw Sungmin dragging his feet, ignoring the worried looks Shindong kept sending his way. He pretended that he saw none of that, forcing a smile on his face and greeting his fellow classmates as they passed. He really did not feel like going to school today but he knew he had to. He could not hide in his room like a coward. So engrossed in putting away the dark thoughts in his head, Sungmin missed the approach of his bouncing friend.
“Sungmin-hyung!”
Sungmin was startled by the sudden hug from Donghae and could not hide the flinch. Donghae felt the slight tensing of his hyung’s muscles but said nothing about it. Although many would say that he was like a child most of the time which Donghae would not deny that he was more childish than his brother - though anyone is compared to Kibummie, in truth, Donghae was one of the most sensitive people around, just like a child. He knew that Sungmin was not his usual self that day. He had observed how Sungmin tried to behave normally but could not hide the tension in him. Donghae might not know exactly what was wrong, but he believed that Sungmin would speak when he was ready.
Donghae quickly let go of Sungmin and started babbling about things that happened to him the previous day, pulling his hyung along as they walked. Sungmin let a small smile slip on his face, knowing exactly what his dongsaeng was doing. He had seen Donghae do that enough times to others to spot what Donghae was trying to do.
Shindong released some of his worries, knowing that Donghae would sufficiently distract Sungmin from his thoughts for the time being, though he could now confirm that Sungmin had one of those dreams. Shindong spotted the dark tired eyes of his Young Master, his childhood friend. He had worried last night when the thunderstorm came, but like all the other multiple times it had occurred, Shindong stayed in his room, simply letting the concern cloud his mind. He wished Sungmin would talk to him, or to Zhou Mi, or anyone. He wondered what their relationship had become - between Sungmin, Zhou Mi and him. Deep inside him, Shindong knew the answer. It all began with the incident.
Sungmin had come back from the incident changed. Shindong could still vividly remember the look in Sungmin’s eyes. He vowed never to see that again in Sungmin’s eyes.
They were dead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sungmin was not the only one dreading school on that day. Hankyung was concerned about Kyuhyun who lie in bed still sick at Heechul’s place when they left for school in the morning. The younger had not woken up throughout the night, sleeping fitfully for most of the time. He wanted to stay behind but could not afford to miss any lectures in his final year, and neither could Heechul, Kangin, and Yesung. Yoochun had stayed back, volunteering to look after Kyuhyun, but he had a test in the afternoon. They needed to find someone who could take care of the younger, not wanting to leave Kyuhyun alone.

Heechul wondered why he was so concerned over the younger. It usually took him longer for someone to find their way into his heart. Shaking his head, he tried to convince himself that it was his psychology student part speaking for Kyuhyun was an interesting person. He wanted to know what triggered the reactions and why. And Heechul did not like unsolved mysteries.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yoochun glanced at the closed door, wondering how the boy managed to inch his way so quickly into their hearts. Hankyung, he could understand for that guy had the biggest heart in the world, second only to Leeteuk. But Heechul? Heechul was the one he could not figure out. From what Yoochun had gathered from the time he had known his hyung, Heechul was not one to show emotions easily to others, nor one who opened up so quickly. Yoochun had to wonder exactly who Kyuhyun was with his past seemingly shrouded in darkness and the link with Jaejoong-hyung. Kyuhyun-sshi, you really are a mystery.
Yoochun shook his head. Now really was not the time for him to be thinking about that. He probably should focus on the problem at hand - like his test later in the afternoon which he had yet to finish reading even a single page of his notes. Yikes.
Kyuhyun groaned, slowly opening his eyes to the light sunshine coming through the window. The curtains were drawn, but light shone in, only partially blocked by the thin drapes across the window. The light was an unwelcome intruder in his world of darkness. He turned, burying his head in the pillow in an attempt to block out the sun. Reaching to pull the blanket above his head, Kyuhyun blinked more as the pink blanket was easily tugged above him. He frowned slightly, wondering if he had suddenly grown stronger over the night for he could not remember it being so effortless to pull his heavy duvet.
Wait a minute. Pink?
Kyuhyun looked down at the cloth still clenched in his hands. It was indeed pink. It was then that Kyuhyun paid attention to his surroundings.
The room was well decorated, with a distinct lived-in feel attached to it, with posters covering most part of the walls. A computer was set up on the desk at a corner, papers rather haphazardly arranged on the side. A framed hand-made poster of numerous people, of different ages caught Kyuhyun’s attention.
This is definitely not my room.
He struggled to get off the bed, distinctly feeling the weakness in his limbs. He shrugged it off, knowing that the one person who would berate him for doing so was not here. Pushing himself off the bed and using the wall as a support, Kyuhyun managed to get himself to the door.
“Yoochun-sshi?”
Yoochun lifted his head at the voice, momentarily confused for he was usually alone in the apartment on this day, until he saw the figure leaning against the doorway.
“What are you doing up Kyuhyun-sshi?”
Yoochun immediately got up, dropping his pen on his notes.
“Where am I?”
Yoochun guided the younger to the chair by the table while explaining that Heechul, Hankyung and Yesung had brought him back the previous night.
Kyuhyun frowned. He did not remember most of the things that Yoochun told him. The last thing that he remembered was serving a customer…
Yoochun blinked, wondering why Kyuhyun tensed suddenly. “Kyuhyun-sshi?”
The voice broke through Kyuhyun’s memories, causing him to re-focus his eyes on Yoochun.
“Are you okay?”
Kyuhyun nodded to the question. He glanced around, noting that they were the only ones in the house at the moment.
“Yikes! I’m going to be late!”
Yoochun’s sudden exclamation brought a stare from Kyuhyun. Yoochun clamoured out of his seat, messily stacking his notes and stuffing them into his file. He had completely forgotten about the time while he was studying. Without glancing back as he walked hurriedly towards his room, Yoochun spoke.
“Someone will be back soon. Kyuhyun-sshi, you can go rest in the room first.”
When Yoochun came out of his room with his backpack slung on one shoulder, he was shocked to see Kyuhyun putting on his shoes by the main door.
“I’ll just head back to my dorm.”
Kyuhyun did not want to impose further, and it would be awkward staying in the house all alone, especially when he did not know the occupants very well - or even very long in the first place. Besides, I’m not that ill. He was used to taking care of himself.
Yoochun looked uncertain. “Are you sure?”
Kyuhyun nodded, standing up from his position, though he made sure to stand slowly.
Yoochun frowned, not quite sure if he should concede to the younger boy. Though he does look better than last night. He sighed. He looked at his watch, knowing that he had no time to argue. He just hoped that Heechul would not kill him later.
“Alright. I’ve got just enough time to walk you to the dorm. And if Heechul-hyung screams at you or anything, it’s your fault.”
Kyuhyun opened his mouth to say that he could get to the dorm fine by himself, but closed it and shrugged. He doubted that Heechul would be that scary.
