Stolen Borrowed from elfinblaze because it looks like a lot of fun.

Book Meme

1) What author do you own the most books by?
I first thought it was Lindsey Davis who I own 19 books by, but double checking reveals I actually own 25 Terry Pratchett books (plus on compendium, plus Good Omens which he co-wrote).

The rest of the questions )

(There’s also something like 7 bibles in our house :P)
I forgot that one. I think I have about 3 copies of the new testament on my own. Goodness knows how many are in the house.

Short stories suck as a fast reader, because they blur together
This is why it takes me months or years to read a book of short stories. I take a break after each one. I like to take some time and properly digest each story and think about it a while. Maybe you could try reading one each day before bed, or something?

I *have* to buy books - I can't stand borrowing them - because I keep wanting to go back and re-read or look something up. The down side is I now have a pile of books I want to get rid of too, but I don't have the heart to throw them out (because they're *books*!).

Yay for doing this. I enjoyed reading that. ^_^

Admittedly we also have about 4 different versions of the bible in our house: NIV, Good News, CEV and the revised KJV. There would have been a ESV too if I hadn't lost my copy :( I must say though that for quite a number of my church friends this kind of thing is not too uncommon.

I've never learnt how to limit my reading... Even with novels I'll tell myself one more chapter and then I'll go to sleep... and after a while I think "this is a really long chapter" only to realise that I've read to the end of the chapter and kept going for another chapter and a half...

Yeah, I'm with you. I'd much rather buy books... Although borrowing from you isn't too bad, because if I need to borrow it a second time I can do it easily. I'm always willing to take books from people who are getting rid of parting with them. Even you ( ... )

I tend to read "one short story before bed" when I'm really tired, so I have no problem putting the book down and rolling over and going to sleep. Also, short stories (usually) have conclusions, so it's a bit hard to continue reading without noticing. Just don't read the short story I linked in my version of this as a "last one before bed" because I did, and then was afraid to turn the light off. =/

And now I'm thinking of the Doctor Who episode with the Library Planet. I want that kind of library! (I also want to go to Bookholm.)

And I didn't buy Twilight. My sister did. ^_^
