Interesting, if simple, stats. No surprises.

You went to school in Marietta, GA? I spent so much time there, and in Atlanta in the past year or so. :D

Yes, graduate school at Southern Polytechnic State University, a smallish engineering school (graduated in 1991). I lived in Atlanta/Norcross for 7.5 years. I like the people there a lot, but prefer the climate of Portland, Oregon where I have lived for 14 years.

Isn't it nice that they list Evangelicals, Non-Evangelical Protestants, Catholics, and non-religious but leave out Religious non-Christians?

I just love these polls.

Yes, it would have been more interesting (and more credible) if they had included results from questioning other religions.

It could be that the point of the poll was to show a comparison of Christian (and non) beliefs within certain education levels and income brackets. If so, it was not stated clearly in the text.

I know for a fact that poor Southern Baptists (at least where I'm from) are quick to blame/credit "The Lord" (they rarely use the word "God) for disasters. For a while, it seemed like the general sentiment was that "he let it happen for a reason." Now, it appears to be a belief of all-out punishment.

Thankfully, my Southern Baptist family is more educated and far more open-minded about such matters. Still makes it difficult for me to go back there, though...

they rarely use the word "God"...

I've noticed that, too.

I'm fairly certain that they don't say "God" because it's part of the phrase "Goddamn," a useless phrase, really.

You did positively nothing wrong. Perhaps you did not see my "unfriending" post.

I've been focusing more on looking for a good position and less on LJ and the net in general -- or tried to!

I'll be adding everyone back when things calm down a little. I just didn't want it to seem like I was ignoring a lot of people by never responding the their posts.

You're a very nice person.
