21 Senior Citizens Dead in NY

I'm having a real problem with this. Why didn't the boat captain require life jackets to be worn for all passengers, especially considering that all were senior citizens? I've taken many boat trips. I never wear a life jacket, as I am comfortable swimming in any depth of water -- but not for any length. Perhaps it's time for me to re-evaluate my ( Read more... )

The accident apparently happened so fast that none of the passengers was able to put on a life jacket, Cleveland said.

That's often the case.

Agreed. My problem is that they were not required to wear them before the boat launched...

It's not like a life jacket impairs one's ability to enjoy the trip...
