I'm surprised you failed a translation exam, you're English has always struck me as particularly fluent.

ARGH, how embarassing - typing too quickly whilst trying to do something else; what I meant to say there is "Your English has always struck me as particularly fluent". Oh, the bloody irony!

To be fair, these were very specialized translations, and the comments I got back (at least some of them) were very nitpicky - still, after having been in the legal business for this long, I would have thought I'd do better. Oh well - it's not like this would have made me rich, or anything. ;-)

(and as you will see, I'm not above correcting my mistakes either :)

I will admit my general knowledge, and even to a degree, specialized knowledge, of English is good for a foreigner. These were, however, very specialized texts, and I have to admit that some of the comments I got back about my errors seemed to be going a bit too far in finding faults.

Blockages suck, there's no way around that. I do hope they fix this soon - I do not relish having to call more strangers into my home. To be fair, this has also given me a bit of a kick in the behind to see about making my apartment a bit more presentable for such events. ;-)

Thanks, I do like watching and photographing the arctic terns. They look so regal and graceful in the air, while looking quite ridiculous in water or when on the ground. ;-)

I haven't seen you in such a long time!

Reading of house maintenance problems experienced by others, I'm frequently glad that I have no property that I'm responsible for maintaining.

My best to you!

Thanks.

Problems like this are to be expected, I suppose, when living in an old house. I would have preferred just about any other type of problem to this one, though.

I wouldn't mind winning in the lottery tomorrow, you know. ;-)
