I've never been to Alaska, and must admit that I don't know very much about it. I'm sure there are more trees there, and the winters must be much colder - although I moan and bitch about the Icelandic winter, it rarely goes below -10°C (14°F) here in the southwest and then usually not for very long at a time.
It is cold here too, but likely not as cold as it is in your neighborhood, eh? It has been down in the 30's at night, warmer and sunny during the day, and the wind is blowing so hard out here where I live that it howls! What an interesting experience. Sometimes the place will shake a bit, and the wind whistles through the tin roof. It is romantic in a "warm inside, hot cup of tea and a good book" kind of way. Sophie barks at it.

Apart from the cold spell earlier in the month, it's been mostly raining (and therefore not all that cold) until this week. It's currently below freezing point and the forecast seems to predict the low 30s during the day well into next week.
I have a feeling that this will be a cold winter, but only time will tell, I guess.

Doesn't mean I have to like it, though. ;-)

I have a feeling that this will be a cold winter - maybe it's just my natural pessimism. Only time will tell, I guess.
