Today's the Kentucky Derby, and I'm watching in my living room (while working on a paper). My dad and I are betting a dollar each on a horse, winner take all :-). Darn, it's snowing again. At least it's pretty. We're supposed to get about 6 inches of snow, which doesn't sound like much but is in fact quite a bit. How many girls are lucky enough to get to spend saturday night collating 9 early Christian manuscripts (from the 3rd to the 10th centuries) against the textus receptus? My life rocks ;-)

49 minutes and 12 Hebrew fonts later, I finally figured out how to type the letter aleph in Word. Go me. You would not believe how excited that made me, and how much less inclined to throw my computer out the window.

I don't know what happened in my head, but my dates are a week off. That is, I thought monday was the 19th and yesterday the 20th. I just realized that it's actually the last day of February. Weird. I still feel like it's the 21st. Maybe I should get some sleep.

Just had a fun little conversation with of my professors, a visiting distinguished scholar, about how the Gospel of Thomas is written in a combination of sub-Achmimic and Sahidic Coptic dialects (and badly written at that). I love my subject!

I have only one exam left, actually a research/comparison paper for my Manicheism class. Technically finals were over today, but my professor told us that we should turn it in sometime between Jan 22nd and Jan 26th, so I have til friday. My Coptic final Saturday morning went really well, I studied a lot but I didn't feel like I was lost- I think ( Read more... )
