How can I thank you for this incredible commentary? It feels like the most tremendous gift--to be able to take the journey through someone else's eyes and see this vid from the 'outside' for once (though I love that you found it hard to stay 'outside' in your own way--in the sense that you initially fell into Kara's point of view!).

Your post is so beautiful!! I love the way you've put the clips together, emphasising some sections with trios of shots and that amazing close up on Kara's face at 'ghost' :) :) It allowed me to experience it through again in a new way, seeing which moments struck you. That's an incredible gift to a vidder--I was way too 'close' to this vid for many many months, very unaccepting of it. So reading this is a healing process for me.

it allows scenes to simply be what they are, rather than be weighted with context:) I'm very happy with that, even though I see myself as a context-based vidder. In the case of this vid I specifically wanted to lift free of some of the plot details and capture the emotional ( ... )

amazing expression of grief and sorrow and love and friendship
:D :D :D :D :D

has to let go
Lee letting go, surrendering, is what this vid is really ultimately about for me.

He's no longer lost and floundering and at her mercy.
Thank you for seeing that! Or rather: feeling it. :)

in the separate contexts it seems completely different
Yay!!! I don't know how deliberately I tried for that, but it's definitely something which--when you describe it--I'm thrilled is the case. Bascially because I feel the track, the song itself, works that way. There's this powerful intro and we get this impression of a GRAND emotional arc, but then it goes right back to basics and pulls us through in detail, and I know the first time I listened to it, I underestimated how emotional and intimate the actual journey of that would be.

That desktop is very beautiful, and I love your mention of yearning and honour as being key to Lee's character and experience.

It convinced me to go back and watch the show from the beginning, to take the journey with Kara ( ... )

Here via kuwdora and had not seen the video, but really loved it, and especially love this commentary. I was not a super-shipper, but I really liked that Kara was not and never will be, a girl in a box. You do not know what she will do next... nor does she. But she's radiant and you're right - at the moment this vid is in love with Kara, we are too. Lee's pain and frustration is palpable. We see him as we see her.

Yeah, you nailed it.
