I watched this thing on tv today about the history of pop music. The part I saw went from the Monkees through Abba to Britney Spears. It just confirmed everything I already believed about pop music. It's cranked out by a handful of people who perfect the formula for selling records and there is no artistic merit or emotional depth to any of it. So
