Over at ljchristians, I found the following video from an evangelisation training course:

I transcribed the first half of the talk and added my comments, to give you an impression of how this style of evangelization looks to non-christians like me:

:))))

I can't get a word in edgeways here!

But yes, it is a shame that original sin seems to usurp our opening up to original beauty... whose sin?... was there ever an Eve... did some person's sin cause the terrible tsunami... does adultery effect plate tectonics?

Or are most humans just so hurt and scared that they lock up so much beauty and joy, and forget how treasured they are, and how their template is lovely and wonderful, formed in the image of the divine?

Now Julie Andrews, I have a problem with Julie Andrews...

Yeah. Basically a few years ago a video like that would send me off. My studying Buddhism is basically the only way I was able to actually appreciate Christianity again. But lets not forget that there are arrogant Buddhists who might try to recruit people too. "Do you want to have a good rebirth? Do you want to leave samsara? Then follow the Noble Eightfold Path!!!"

yep... it took me study of hinduism and buddism to find the truth hidden inside the chritian realm as well... its a shame that they cut themselves from their contemplative gnostic roots so many years ago... gnostics had very eastern take in christ consiousness and awakening.

It's fun to see how the study of "exotic" traditions opens up new perspectives in the well known religion "at home". I'm currently struggling with the urge to get a bit evangelistic myself... Interesting how the old "but why don't they see what I see" comes up from a totally different perspective again. :-)

Yes. Fundamentalism can be described as "attachment to one's views", which is, rather obviously, a trait the most of us have in common. (At least I know I have it *g*).
