On Sept. 19, 1959, Soviet Premier Nikita Khruschev was banned from going to Disneyland. Why that is, I don't know. Maybe they didnt want him going on the submarine ride and stealing secrets from the imagineers ( Read more... )

One shudders to think of the course the Cold War could have taken had Khruschev been given access to the animatronics technology of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride.

man... thats a scary thought. Imagine a hundred thousand soviet animatronic soldiers crossing into west germany. Or, he might have discovered the secret behind "space mountain" and beat us to the moon. Worse, he could have gone and seen the "Tiki room" and laughed, losing respect for American culture and gaining that extra edge of confidance.

That would make a great old-style cold war era movie to have like 15 divisions of decoy soviet troops to cross over into west germany. Maybe they could get patrick swayze to star in such a movie.
