I'm so friggin frustrated!!!!

I've been searching around looking at different premade layouts. Then I try to change my journal layout and I can't get it to work. I wish someone would help me! GAHHHHHHHHHH! Seems that I have no clue what I'm doing. Even when I follow instructions given in the communities, I still don't get it right.
