Here is a shot of the Coronet once I got the front Griffins off. Pretty Gross. NEVER EVER USE BRASSO to clean anything you care about - or toothpaste either. I planned on removing the "Cowboy Roping" around the bottom and sides. It's a bit dated, not to mention beat to hell. I was gonna replace the side roping with silver panels and set amber ( Read more... )

Very snazzy! I had heard about not using brasso, but why not use toothpaste? What does it do?

Toothpaste eventually hardens and won't come out of the crevices. So don't use it. Unless you need to fill holes in the wall. Then go girl!

Wow! I've never been as personal with those coronets as you have, but have dealt with them up close. They look great!

How would the stone have cracked as we always handled them with baby hands - or am I better off not knowing?

What should you use to clean btass? That buckle I have from you is due for a cleaning and I am wondering what to use? I have a can of "Nevr-Dull" that we use for the brass steam engine whistle and fittings. Is that ok?

I think the stones got cracked in the airport security examination. I got mine back when I was Prince and the air guys had squished it. Remember that these things are 12 years old and Amber is fragile.

I use a jewellery cleaning cloth to clean metal - Hagerty makes one, or use a rouge cloth. I use a yellow cloth that has a chemical on it - the name escapes me. On the buckle, a liquid/paste cleaner will work, but it might not come out of the crevices.

one brand of cloth is Fabulustre, comes with a red piece and a yellow piece stiched together. Rouge on the red and buff with the yellow.

Ken's or Komarovich in Cowtown have them.

Bedrock in Edmonchuk should have them.

If you want I can pick one up for you.
