[Her transmission crackles to life midaction, the sound of a weapon being sheathed as something hits the ground near the communicator with a sickly thud.

There's a pause. Impatient. Irritated.]

Such a mess, this has become.

How... hm, typical. And yet, you all seem to be taking care of yourselves quite well.

Thou art of the same race as these creatures?

...

Then it is to thee that I must... apologize.

[ such desperate hope ]

Ah... I was told to talk to you. A-about the monsters. That you could... help somehow, maybe?

Ah, so I see.

Unfortunately, this is not my doing, but perhaps I can assist in some manner to aid in the ending of this situation more swiftly.

[She laughs, but unlike towards most of the others it's a very friendly one. She sounds almost happy to hear such a thing.]

Wonderful. If only more were like you I would think things would be much more interesting.

Are you one of the people in charge here?

If this is about what we did to the back streets, it was an accident and we were just doing our job and all those buildings probably needed to be condemned anyway so we were probably doing you a favour--

[Deep breath for air]

If Rufus or Tseng ask, it wasn't our fault! The methane gas from the sewers escaped into the air and made the explosion bigger than it should have been.

[Oh, she listens so very quietly.]

In charge? Hm, I suppose that would be stretching it.

What exactly did you all do, now?

You mean you didn't hear the huge expl--?

--Uh, nothing much. Just a couple of IEDs spread around to try and seal off one of the big monsters. Didn't seem to work as well as we hoped, but at least we tried!

...

Okay, maybe it was more than just a couple IEDs. Maybe it more like several or several dozen. You'll have to ask Rude.

We can't check the area until the surviving monsters calm down and go back to their nest or burrow or whatever it was. Who knows, maybe those empty buildings are still standing after all!
