War Update

Apr 21, 2008 13:10

In a old post, I estimated that, with the money the U.S. had spent on the Iraq war up until that point, we could have just trained/created 58,000 Batmans to go take care of it.

Now that estimate is up to 146,605 Batmans.

This is so obvious. I really need to run for President.

OOC, what's the cost per individual Batman? Plus, do you include a research budget for new Batgadgets?

(..and, well, of course you need to run for President! I'm totally over the batmans-to-victory campaign.)

The Forbes article is here: http://tinyurl.com/7u375

It includes an itemized breakdown, including estimates for keeping a butler and paying rent on a BatCave. As you can see, the actual total is just shy of $3.4M, so the extra (I'm assuming $3.5M per Caped Crusader) could go a long ways towards further development.

Americans would be suspicious of somebody who spent so much time in Australia and didn't volunteer to fight in any war whilst there. Not to mention, the entomology would just disturb most people. Americans don't like bugs.

However, should you choose to do so, you would have my vote. :)

Yeah, anyone who has a plan for using Batmans to resolve crises get my vote, bug-lover or not! :-)

in all honesty, i thought that was the direction the military was deliberately trying to move in. all the emphasis on special forces, on more training and more technology per soldier and fewer soldiers.

they're probably not heavily recruiting obsessed driven nutcases, though. :)

I had the same thought, but the fact is, you just can't expect Rumsfeld to achieve Batman.

You just can't.
