Drunk with pensiveness

One reads/hears "drunk" used as a metaphor for various emotions: drunk with lust, drunk with rage, etc. I like to try to combine "drunk" with emotions that aren't particularly well-described by "drunk". The first one I came up with was, "drunk with respect". It amuses me, but I've never had an opportunity to use it on unsuspecting participants ( Read more... )

The first two that come to mind are "drunk with ambivalence" and "drunk with irritation."

Not an emotion, but how about "drunk with leprosy"?

I like that one.

"Righteous indignation" is one of those word pairings made up of words that seem kind of empty when used without the other one. "Scantily clad" is another example. Now I'm thinking of other emotions that dissonate with the adjective "righteous". Righteous melancholy? Righteous giddiness? Righteous apathy?

All I could dig up is 'Esteemed drunkenness' and 'Drunk Crusader'
