I think... friendly banter is one thing, but completely stop talking to you, avoiding you, or not telling you anything. I think i'd feel kind of left behind. Well, almost all the guys I have dated have been friends first. James told me he just wanted to be friends too. We were best friends for a year before we started dating. So don't give up hope completely. However, the only way that that was able to work for either of us was because I was honest with him. I told him I was in to him and when he said "just be friends" it made me really sad, but in my experience you can't have too many friends. Just don't put too much effort into the friendship...what I mean is, if it feels like work...skrew that. Don't put all your eggs in one basket either. Even while I liked James in the year before we were dating, I still had crushes on other guys and when out with other people. So if she comes around, sweet. If not, you haven't burnt any bridges or missed out on another oppurtunity.
