3.0x optical zoom isn't much, and the max focal length is quite short. Digital zoom combined with the reasonable megapixel count will overcome some of the optical limitations, but 32MB isn't much to play with if you insist on high quality pix.

Otherwise it looks like a great camera for holiday snaps. That large display will be useful (though it will tend to drain battery power).

If you can get it for a good price, then go for it, otherwise I'd be inclined to want a teeny bit more, especially when you are operating away from convenient downloads. When I was in the UK recently I made sure I had a battery recharger that plugged into British sockets and a 512MB card so I didn't have to worry about storage (or running out of batteries) until I could get back to my hostel and download to my laptop.

Thanks for the advice! I haven't seen any small camera's with anything larger than 3x zoom. i would be investing in a large 512MP card :) I had no thought of the fact that large screen size would have an effect on the battery life, thanks! British charger is also a great idea... yet another thing I hadn't thought of!
What type of camera did you get? any other camera models you would recomend?

I had an el-cheapo Aldi model for about a year. Manual focus, no screen, no zoom. I replaced it this time last year with a Canon PowerShot A60, which I think is no longer made and has been replaced by something twice as powerful for half the cost.

It has 2.0 megapixels and 3x optical zoom and is very much a third class model now. Its LCD screen is only 35mm. I quickly replaced the 16MB flash card with a 64MB and upped that to 512MB. It's adequate for family work, but I find myself constantly being let down by lack of definition, and I could really use a bit more zoom.

In terms of features and software it is excellent, but if I was buying anew, I'd go for something with more oomph.
