I agree! Sometimes she's so age-appropriate it's heartbreaking. Maybe it's because I'm 20, but I just empathize with her so much.

This is just...amazing. So well thought out and argued. You covered just why I adore Rose as a character.

Yes, she's not highly educated, yes she gets jealous on occassion and can be unthinking, but this is what makes her a realistic character. Our flaws define us and make us who we are. I loved Rose for that. I don't want to watch a 'perfect in everyway' female heroine, I want someone real. And in Rose we got that.

I'm glad you liked it! I completely agree with you about flaws; I've done some things that I'm not proud of, but they make you a stronger person in the end. The fact that Rose chooses to be good instead of just being inherently good is more powerful, imo.

Yeah, those horrible comments are what inspired me to write this. People are entitled to their own opinions, but seeing how they paint her as some sort of monster made me want to counteract the negativity. Eeesh.
