Mortality of one's parents is scary. In a way, I've already dealt with it (my father who I remember well died when I was 4; my stepfather died two years ago). But in many ways, I'm really not ready to cope. My mom isn't *really* old... but she's all by herself, and even though she likes it that way, I wish I could spend hours with her every day. I know I'm not going to be ready when she finally dies (hopefully in 10 or 20 years, though she's suggested 7).
I hope you have several decades more time with your dad!
