Last I heard, destiny was what you make of it.

Though it sounds a bit cliche.

Maybe it's a cliche for a reason.

I can't say I believe in immutable destiny, at any rate.

Then how does one go about changing it?

I don't think destiny exists. People decide what they want from day to day but coincidences befall them.

I'm not sure what sounds worse, leaving everything to fate, or coincidence.

You can exert a measure of control over coincidence.

And I would say the same about destiny.

No.

How candid. Why would you say that?

It cannot be seen, felt, measured, or proven, therefore it does not exist. There are probable outcomes in any given situation, and a set number of actions that may be taken to either aid or prevent their occurrence. There is no 'destiny'.

There are many notions in this and other worlds that can't be touched or rationalized, but I'd like to believe them anyway. I'm fine if they really are falsehoods in the end, but how can you prove what is absolutely true?

That depends on what you mean by "destiny."

Oh? How should it be defined?

I wonder...

Is destiny important to you?

Tremendously.

haroine May 15 2009, 01:26:19 UTC
Why is that so?

I think there are some parts of my future that transcend chance and approach the inevitable. My destiny.
