Shiny new parts...

Aug 19, 2008 17:35

Warhammer Online is coming out soon and...well, my current system has lasted me a while, but barely meets the minimum specs (actually it falls a little short in the CPU department). So I caved and bought parts to build me a new one:

Cut for those who don't care about computer specs )

What's creepier? That I am, or that you knew? ;)

Well I figured if that didn't do it, then this item in one of my catalogs would. Silver-tipped .50 armor piercing incendiary rounds for all your vampire-werewolf's wearing bullet-proof vest killing needs.

That's a hell of an awesome system. I'm gonna be upgrading in a few months myself to play Warhammer and the slew of other games coming out too. Don't think it'll be as beefy as that though.

I haven't upgraded my system from the ground up in 5+ years and it's currently pretty much maxed out as possible for my motherboard. So I figured it was worth the effort in investing in something that will hopefully last a while again.

I did have to do a quick study on all the new technology out there, but one of my co-workers was helping me since he's also building a new machine (although not quite as decked out for gaming as this one). The whole SLI thing intrigues me though. Originally I was going to go for lower end graphics cards, but 9800's for $130 each was a steal.

Ooh. Nice. And I'm looking forward to seeing the Japan pics...in the interim, have you tried Picasa?

Well, there are lots of places I could post the pictures if I really wanted to have them hosted elsewhere, like Facebook, Flickr, photobucket, etc. But the thing is I have my own website with plenty of server space and I don't really want to go through the process of uploading the 100+ pictures through one of those sites.

It'll be up soon I hope, once I get less busy with side projects.
