I didn't know Gary Busey was a fan.

*chortle*

I forgot about him. Yeah, great career he's had since, let's hope Gale's outlook is better.

My father was a biker (Harley Electra Glide -- a real hog)
and the whole biker thing is all about macho BS. People
who drive cars are "cagers" and people who ride Japanese
bikes, like Hondas, are "Rice-burners," etc. If you haven't
wiped out or practically killed yourself you aren't a true
"brother of the road." Hey, that stuff I wrote in "Medium
Security" about the bikers wasn't just off the top of my
head.

Italian bikes are considered pretty effete and "rich boy."
My uncle collected and restored Indians and even he was
considered a wannbe, even though Indians are classic
American rides. Anything but a Harley would be a
Pussy-machine.

Interestingly, in Australia Harley riders are seen as guys who are overcompensating.

The "have-hads" appear to be a group who should have been given brain scans before their crashes.

No, the Harley is "it" -- nothing else is acceptable
to the hardcore bikers. There's no such thing as
overcompensating! It's all about overcompensating.

Actually, one of the most accurate portrayals of
bikers is in the film "Mask" about Rocky Dennis,
who had the elephant man disease.

I guess these guys won't be satisfied until they join the DOA club.

What was the latest vague report on Gale's recovery? Did I miss it?
Is it true that if his chronic injuries were considered serious he would have been in the hospital longer and then sent to a rehabilitation establishment?

He was in the hospital quite a long time IMO. I would have expected him to go to rehab, but it's possible he has the financial resources to receive the same services at home. I really don't know, but lack of time in a rehab place isn't a good enough sign of health for me.

Last time I tried a link it didn't work but I'll try again. I have no idea how credible this source is, but they sound reasonable:

Oh boy! Isn't that a club you want to join! Do you think he knew which "your" to use before his trip?

Do you think he knew Gale's last name before his trip - he can't even get it right twice in the same paragraph!

What a thrill to be in a club that no one wants to be in. It makes no sense to me that people do these things that they no are dangerous and will most likely end badly.
