:) Max I am so excited to see you when I get back to Tucson, hopefully you will still be there and not off on an amazing new adventure.
Advice is always valuable, and I generally like your life philosophy so I appreciate it!

I agree completely about the need for more gardens here! But I'm often really glad that I didn't grow up with a strong ancestral influence. Such things often cause too much pride and lead to conflict and closed minds. I think the lack of old cultural traditions, and the newer traditions being less integral in my life, I've been able to approach the world more openly and make decisions for myself.
I, of course, don't mean to imply that all people who take pride in their heritage are closed minded...just that I think it increases the odds. Just like Christians in the US. A lot of them are very nice and very understanding people, but many of them strictly and actively condemn anything that contrasts their own view.

Anyways! You're missed dearly up here in the spoiled states! And send Jono my love!

Hmm, indeed good things to ponder. I guess a minority that is systematically oppressed feeling like they have a cultural heritage that they can take pride in is something I feel needs support, but I agree that there are very different forms of cultural pride/patriotism/nationalism/fanaticism that can have serious and dangerous repercussions and its true that the world views here are very different from what we get in the states, but I think in some cases its a really good thing, because I feel like I grew up in a culture of consumerism and cynicism on the one hand, but also from my parents and friends an open mindedness and the confidence to be able to judge things for myself and make my own "choices" (or at least have that illusion.
Just more stuff to get sucked into the whirlpool that is my brain these days.

And Jono will be stoked to hear that, I don't know if he expresses enough how much he loves you to you, but he certainly does to me!

Are we talking about Jono the black guy... If so, tell him that I said what's up too. And if we aren't... tell him I said what's up anyway.
