No offense, but if I had given you a gift card, in leu of something for the baby, as a gift for a baby shower, I'd be upset if it went towards not-baby things.

It might end up working out to your favor that you didn't get formula- I've known parents who got tons of it, and had it end up being something they couldn't use- because the baby was lactose intolerant, or needed the extra-fortified variety or something.

I plan on breastfeeding exclusively anyway. Had we gotten formula, I'd have no idea what to do with it. Probably try and see if it worked for nondairy coffee creamer or something random.
