I think the reason I write stories for young adults is because I remember that when I was a teenager those angry thoughts inside my head -- "I hate you! Leave me alone! You're ruining my life!" -- were just code for "I need you to hear me." We all need to know that someone is listening, but for teenagers this seems especially important. Books offer ( Read more... )

It's important we have heroes. We all need them. I was lucky to have found one in my dad. He's gone now, but he left footprints for me to follow. Impressions of what is good, and right, and decent. If only I'd stop wandering off the trail ...

I'm one of the lucky ones--born to parents who didn't think innocence was a dirty word. They allowed me to grow up at a leisurely pace while everyone around me raced toward adulthood. So, I signed up for Nanowrimo 2010. This will be my first attempt at 50,000 words in a month, but I'm determined I can do it. My best writing has been in the stories I wrote fast and edited very little. Wish me luck.
