I don't know how you did it -- do it, whatever -- but I laughed and got queasy at the same time. Terrific story, particularly the part when Lamb kisses Lilly and the details in the description of his childhood experiences. Really lovely job.

Wow. You start out with such light, awesome snark, but then...the end! That is such an amazing (and totally unexpected, at least for me) direction...not to mention the CREEEEEEPY factor.

I really loved this line:

“You know what, it’s one thing to get yourself killed,” he snaps as he grabs her wrist, surprised to find that there is any kind of substance for him to grasp. “But other people almost died tonight because of you. Good people who had no part in any of this.”

You do a great job, with so little, in indicating that there really IS more to Lamb than the asshole...
