Are you going down the comments one by one? It would be nice if there were a note who this was written for and the words used.

Hi, a friend of mine, threnodyeris, recommended i write you. I am beginning to write a book. I've never written anything before. Any advise? I could use all the help I can get.

Practice.

A lot.

Write until you hate writing.
If you keep coming back anyway, you'll be fine.

Your first book will always suck. That is the law. Don't bother finishing it, unless you have a hard time finishing it.

Listen to how people talk.
Look at them. Don't see what you expect to, just see them.
Pay attention to how you are.
Get out of your own skin.
Drop bombs on your comfort zones.

above all, though, if you want to be a writer
you have to NEED it

What's the book about?

Wow, that was really fantastic! I just found your LJ after seeing a link to it from Becky's (Cheshirrrecat's) page about moving; I don't remember if we met today helping her move (I was so wiped out after I got home from that!), but I was the guy with the black Chevy Blazer. PS - I've added you to my friend's list, I hope you don't mind?

Take care-
Mike

I don't mind at all, and I was about 3000 miles too far away to help with the move. Next time I'm in the neighborhood we might bump into each other.

Enjoy the reading.
