I think it's a good thing that it's hard for you. Another of my livejournal friends is starting his first year at a slightly different law school (Northeastern) and says it's one big party. Even more disturbing.
yeah, i didn't expect a party -- although orientation week was more fun than i expected -- but the learning curve is steep as fuck. i feel like i'm starting to get the hang of things, w/r/t how to read and think about cases, but i can't get over this fear that everyone else is smarter than me. this is probably because they are. but at least i'm learning. did you find that there was a steep learning curve in the beginning of your 1L year?
Hey, it's rachel. One book you might like is called One L by Scott Turow. It is all about his first year at Harvard Law. Of course, you probably have no time to read for fun, but if you ever get a weekend to yourself, its a fast read.
hey -- rachel from paideia (don't want to out you with your last name on lj)? word.
yeah i read that book. it freaked the shit out of me. it's actually mostly inapplicable to my experience here so far. the dean of the law school went so far as to say she wished she could sue scott turow. anyway, he's fucking neurotic, and i'ma try not to have a nervous breakdown in october. but yeah, i remember him struggling in the first week or so also. unfortunately that doesn't make it any easier. anyway, good to hear from you. i'll add you to my friends list.
