As of yesterday I have 5 years as a state employee under my belt. Yay, just 25 more and I can retire. And where's my damn plaque!

Well, in WV, they give us a certificate for every five years of service. Of course, being the Graphic Artist on staff, I have to make the certificate...

And, since the fiscal year runs from July to June, and I was hired in October, I had to work 21 months before I got credit for my first year.

Still, my retirement plan's been fully vested since 2001, I've got 9 weeks of accrued vacation, and over a year of accrued sick leave. All in all, being a state employee's not too bad.

Oh, and in today's job market, congratulations on reaching five years.

At five years I got a globe.

At ten, a bigger globe :-)
