i just had some money changed--something that apparently nobody does at the bank since it requires countless documents and such. so there are tons of 'black market' money changers, some more trustworthy than others. it was with one of these i met this morning to swap a stack of my red chairman mao notes for a (much smaller) stack of (ok, i suppose ( Read more... )

last week i was thinking, man, this city is a lot warmer than suzhou. by this time of the year last year it was snowing there. i was walking around comfortably in only a few layers of clothing. the next day, the temperature plummeted, and when i went out in the morning, small drops of frozen water were falling everywhere ( Read more... )
