Took the Plunge

Just ordered a new TV and spent much too much money while we were at it.

Feeling kind of queezy having spent that much money on a freaking TV.

A couple of guys at work speak very highly of Samsun DLPs. We went with a Sony 50" rear-projection LCD mostly on account of price. (it didn't hurt that it was on sale and discounted further for being a demo model)

Man, all the cables and related stuff really adds up, though, doesn't it???

I don't have the tv yet, and haven't gone all cable crazy. I'm not sure how bad it will be, I have a 25' DVI cable I got off monoprice for 30 bucks that I plan to use for the video. No one has proven any real utility to me in going with expensive audio cables, especially if I use my current PC as a media box such that there is only one source and hence I'm not generating interference. Plus then I won't have half a dozen remotes floating about to do anything; that just annoys the heck out of me. Of course if I were to factor in the cost of the PC, the peripheral cost would definitely be up there. But hey, using existing hardware is free, right?
