I just arrived in Zhongdian in the northern part of Yunnan Province in China. I spent a good bit of time in Lijiang which was quite a nice city with a good minority culture. I've been in China for about a week and a half now. It's been a bit of a whirl wind tour, not spending more than 2 nights in any one place. So I had an interesting trip to the countryside. The scenery never really changed no matter how far we drove in our van. I ended up travelling with 3 girls and a driver that spoke no english. So I have been travelling for 6 days now. It started last Saturday afternoon where I took a boat from Korea to Qingdao in China. The boat was quite nice, a bit like a cruise ship but without all the drama I guess. So I got all the photos in the rest of this blog fixed from losing my previous photo host. Now I'm in the process of really getting things ready to leave. Spent a good part of the day trying to find a travel agency that will attempt to get me a double entry 90 day visa for China. They do it for Koreans, but said they can't for foreigners. Here, I have found myself this evening in Kyoto Japan. I came yesterday evening by ferry from Korea to Fukuoka. It is certainly a huge change from life in Korea. The streets are clean, I can get western good beer, though it:s pricey. I spent about 7 dollars on a proper pint of Bass Pale Ale, but it was worth it. It is now July, and I've now been in Korea for over 10 months. My contract is up August 18th. In just a few weeks, I'm heading to Japan for about 8 or 9 days for my first vacation since December.
