Valentine lounged by the side of the pond, boredly juggling and watching his reflection in the clear water.

It was so quiet when she wasn't there. And, if the seemingly endless night was any indication, it would be some time before she returned again.

Valentine pushed the thoughts away, and added another ball to his routine.

There had been a shift. Valentine could sense it, feel it all around him, but had no idea why. Everyone seemed on edge-- they felt it all around and inside of them as well.
