I've never had the chance to read or watch any carl sagen, though the small bits I've seen made me feel warm and fuzzy, as he had the curiousity of a child for all things of the cosmos.

Even if there are star systems like ours, the chance of one being exactly the same as ours, multiplied by the chance of a planet developing with exactly the same chemistry as ours, multiplied by the chance of evolution of a species such as ours, multiplied by the minute chance that a being of some similar makeup as yourself, exists....it's mathematically and scientifically impossible.

There might be life elsewhere, intelligent life---but it will not look like us, or sound like us, or probably even be able to relate to us. You are unique, you are one of a kind---there will never, ever be a creature like yourself in existence anywhere else, ever again.

So, there you go. As if you needed one more reason to be narcissistic, right? ^.~

You've seen the deep field images right? ~3000 galaxies, so while the chances are slim, don't miss sight of my point. There is a chance that some being, somewhere, is looking up and thinking the same thing. That's mathematically possible.

3000 galaxies does not intelligent life make.

Check out one of Professor Hawking's lectures on the subject:

I had a dream about you last night. It was pleasantly odd.
