Cheesy doesn't constitute camp. In fact, I don't see how music per se can be camp. If campness was anything ever at all except the average Joe's excuse for dismissing something as cringeworthy/risque/silly or ridiculous (delete as appropiate), can someone tell me what? I'm sure it wasn't that originally but that's what it's ended up meaning.
Still, the adjectivation of campness has traditionally been a visual thing - 'Jake Shears is soooo camp, darling' - and not uncommonly used in conjunction with what people consider 'very gay', narrow minded and bigoted.
The modern misuse of that other word is a whole subject in itself, however.

adj : providing sophisticated amusement by virtue of having artificially (and vulgarly) mannered or banal or sentimental qualities; "they played up the silliness of their roles for camp effect"; "campy Hollywood musicals
of the 1940's" [syn: campy]

So there. Camp is so last century.
It also has very, very little to do with what many people choose to use the word for. It's just being used as euphemism for people's mockery of things they considered 'uncool'. Childish.

Only in this case camp = cool.

Oh definitely. Actual camp is hardly uncool.

I didn't see you either! I arrived before eleven and left at about 1.30. First we hung out by the DJ booth, then danced some. Later we moved on to stand by the toilets. At some point I lost the track of time, though, and had you been standing right next to me I might have not seen you. But that's another story ;)
