The lesson that I have learned from my first week of classes is that I absolutely cannnot deal with or understand elitest literature snobs. I was absolutely assaulted today by two intellectuals who could not even possibly understand why any educated person (which apparently I am not) would state that "The Catcher in the Rye" is their favorite book

Don't even listen to them. They just don't appreciate Holden for who he really is. I love that book. And shouldn't my opinion count for more than theirs?

Of course it does!!! In my opinion those who do not like "The Catcher in the Rye" or at least appreciate the style in which it is written are just the insignificants who are deflecting their own own anger because they never had a mind altering experience to bring them from youth to adulthood.
