Well, my original rental house in Oak Park now has tenants in it for the first time in more than 10 years. 10 years is entirely too long to let a rental house stand vacant, and the rehab project I started in 1995 has gone on entirely too long. I suppose I should get to bed earlier, rise early, and work harder, but - in the absence of any compelling reason to do so - I don't see it as an urgent priority or greatly beneficial. Today I officially turn 62 and begin to draw Social Security! First check not expected to arrive until February, but I am now drawing money from your tax dollars (or recovering my own prior payments, to the pathetically limited extent that I can, whichever way you look at it).
