Well, it's official.

I'm desperately, madly in love with 鋼の錬金術師, aka Full Metal Alchemist. As it does not seem like I'll be able to get all the anime episodes (which is okay, because they seem to have changed quite a bit), I'm just going to have to buy the rest of the manga. But really, at $2.50 a book, that's a laughably cheap price. So, maybe not now but someday soon ( Read more... )

You have to see more than one episode, I think, to really get into it. I saw the first episode wth Raeann and thought the premise looked pretty good (it reminds me a lot of Trigun) and then bought the first manga when I got here. Then, I happened upon this site which has online scanlations (which are easier to get than the anime episodes) and after eading through most of them, that's when I fell in love. It has a pretty fun feeling, rather like Trigun, but it also gets really serious (*coughratherlikeTriguncough* ^__^;) and when it does, it's got a really solid story behind it.

I got the first episode, but then the video wouldn't play so I downloaded the latest DivX codec and haven't had a chance to install it yet. I'm worried that if I download and download, that it'll eat up the bandwidth I'm sharing with a bunch of people and we'll get charged more. ^__^;; By the way, what episode had you gotten up to, last time you watched? Also, there's a link in the comment above this one with Leslie to a really awesome site for the show. It has translated manga scans that I was reading last night, since I couldn't get the episodes to download faster.

Lesse, well if you saw up to 27, you've seen almost all there is. Episode 31 aired last Sat. and it was newest, so those fansubbers are doing an awesome job. Judging frm what I saw (and though I understood) in episodes 30 and 31, and then from reading through the first four manga, this series definitely has the potential for seriously bad, angsty shit. (WTF with Dr. Tucker?! Poor Nina..) It seems like they've changed the anime from the manga quite a bit at some parts, which is why I'd like to see them both. I might start downloading the episodes again because I talked with one of the guys here and he said we don't pay based on bandwidth usage. \m/ Rawk.
