I don't know how you feel about things, but I, personally, CANNOT stand advertisements on something I'm creating. It drives me up a wall. Anyway, there are other options if you want to get rid of the adverts. Livejournal accepts html almost as well as a trained dog performs tricks.
The way I do things is I use some webhosting space to store the pictures and then just use html to embed them in the text itself. You could try that instead. And if you don't know html, the one line you would need to learn is no more complex than a funky sentence.
