there is finally sun in my city

I apologise for my continual disappearing acts. ♥ I'll try to atone in about two weeks, after classes end. If I can survive them. Music, as always, has been my chillout drug of choice, and I promise a post about everything I've been drowning in sonically; Radiohead (good job being ten years late on that one), The Weeknd, Wye Oak, James Blake, Kanye ( Read more... )

You have been doing so much, bb, and I worry about you. But classes are almost over, and then hopefully you will have greater freedom for the summer? Any exciting plans? (Me, I'm doing a placement for most of May, and then maybe traveling the rest of the summer. Or kicking back and catching up on my reading).

I am so excited for Game of Thrones. I was in a movie theatre the other day when a trailer for it came on, and I was like !!!! though none of the people I was with were fantasy fans, so I was the only one geeking out.

Ooh you have a placement! \o/ Inquiring minds want to know, what will your duties be? I am not sure about plans. I'd like to travel too -- I was supposed to go to China with my dad for a month or so, but shaky health probably means no; maybe something a little less epic. I have cousins in Calgary who need visiting, and I also promised to go to Montreal with my sister & mom sometime, so. What about you? :)

And, I mean, reading is always good. The ironic part about being an English major is that you are so busy reading crappy postmodern novels, you have no time to actually read what you want to read.

It had a trailer in a movie theatre?! I didn't know that it was getting attention outside of the tiny, ragey GRRM fanbase, but yay, go Game of Thrones + mainstream crossover potential! :D

I haven't actually recieved the details of my placement yet. /o\ I hope they situate me somewhere near where my parents live though, so I can have an easy commute. I am the WORST commuter in the world otherwise. I hate getting up early, I get motion sick, etc etc, really I am miserable if I have to travel for more than half an hour to get to somewhere every day.

It didn't have a trailer trailer! But it had a pre-show spotlight. Still, pretty mainstream -- I mean, everybody in the theatre saw it!

I hope they get it to you soon? *crosses fingers* And close to where your parents live -- I forget, is that Toronto? Or are you only there for university? I feel you re. commuting. I get really motion sick, too, so mostly I just listen to music during the hour it takes me to get to campus. Which is nice for a while, but when you have 23048 million things to do you start to look at a commute as OH GOD, WASTED TIME rather than chillout time, I'm sure you can relate. I have been using an applescript + Mac functions to convert text (i.e. Inception porn) to mp3s lately, though, so that helps some!

/end surprisingly long rant on travelling (well, commuting; I actually love roadtrips)

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE LENA HEADEY! But I'm also frightened, because I really disliked Cersei in the books. I guess we'll see.

*hugs* Ah, the end of the semester--no way out except through, every time. Hang in there.

What major did you declare? M.

Pretty much. *sigh* I'm guessing it's a similar experience if you're on the teaching side -- I mean, we moan about writing papers, but someone's got to mark them. ;)

English! With (tentatively) a minor in Creative Writing; I can't decide between that & Women's Studies.

I've decided that finals/classes/school in general is like childbirth, in that you kind of forget the pain and misery once it's over. That is, until it happens again...

ANYWAY. I've mostly forgotten the horror of school, but I know that the end of the semester always sucks and I hope you come out on the other side mostly unscathed ♥

BUT YOU DON'T GET THE CUTE BABY. :( :(

I will try my best? ♥ Also, it's possible to forget the horror of school? The light at the end of the tunnel! :D

My life-coping skills have improved significantly within the past year.

Woot!

The season finale of S1 I take it? Andrew and I watched it (S1) on DVD semi-recently and really enjoyed it - must get S2 out soon...

No, s2! I don't know if it's out on DVD yet, but I'm a terrible pirate, so I've been downloading it. White Collar is my happy place right now -- it's just SO DELIGHTFUL, ALL THE TIME. I'm excited for s3 to start -- this summer, I think! :)

I am jealous that you get Andrew to watch your TV with you; I watch so many obscure scifi TV shows that Mic has just given up on me. :D

Well, S2 is definitely out on DVD here, so I imagine it is in Canada too!

(We've been watching Chuck lately and it's been really odd, because I keep going HI NEAL CAFFREY HI when Bryce Larkin shows up - played by the same actor, if you're not familiar with Chuck.)

Yeah, it's pretty awesome, I have to say. We watch stuff on DVD much more than 'live' on TV & I tend to be the person who finds us new TV shows to watch on - Veronica Mars, The Wire, Community, White Collar, Chuck - and he's usually pretty happy with them. I've even successfully introduced him to Avatar: The Last Airbender! :-)

Not that we always like the same stuff, but we have a pretty good track record, I think.

Hey, you can pride yourself on your observational skills! I think I'd seen 2 seasons of Chuck and then 1 of White Collar before I realized that the Neal actor looked vaguely familiar (or maybe I read it; I have a suspicion I may have read it and googled pictures in shock, but that is just sad so I am sticking to the first story *g*).
